Jasmine flipped through her mind, trying to recall if she had ever met any of the two people Jayden had mentioned. Nothing appeared in front of her eyes. She looked at the boy and smiled, shaking her head.
"Nope, I don't I know those two. Which houses are they in? Did you know Alyssa before you came here?" Jas would probably feel stupid if they were in her own house, but dealing with stupidity was something she was particularly good at, so she shrugged her shoulders are apparently nothing and continued.
"You move a lot, then?" Jasmine asked Jayden curiously. It was obvious by what he'd said, but the question that came from her mouth wasn't the real question she was asking. What Jas really wanted to know was why, but she couldn't think of a polite way to ask him without sounding as though she was trying to pry into the life of someone she had just met. Plus, she didn't want the new Ravenclaw to get a bad impression on his second day at Hogwarts.
Jasmine laughed at Twyla's question; she didn't find herself particularly interesting, though she found Twilight the complete opposite of herself. Deep, to herself, and without too many close friends. Jas raised her perfectly shaped dark eyebrows in question to Jayden, as though willing him to answer incorrectly.

Jayden listened to Twily's story, smiling as he heard her explain why it was that she was 16. An October birthday.....Jayden vaguely remembered a friend from Durmstrang who had been born on Halloween. That made the night even better, as he would get to go to his parties before going out trick-or-treating. Returning to the present, he told Twilight, "That's so cool. You are probably so much more mature than the other kids in your year. Im quite jealous." He laughed as he said this, playing with a lock of curly hair as he watched the two girls.
After Jayden finally stopped fidgeting, he heard Twilight ask if they were intresting, and Jayden replied, "Of course you are! If you weren't, I doubt that I would still be here." He gave the two of them a big, boyish grin to let him know that he was joking about the last part, and then added, "Trust me, you can't be any duller than me anyways." He wondered where Alyssa was, and tried not to remember the other girl. He still felt ashamed to have done what he had, and he hoped that he had managed to fix things.
Turning his green eyes to Jasmine, he heard her bombard him with questions, and then laughed and said, "Alyssa is in Hufflepuff, and Jane is in Gryffindor. I just met Alyssa in the Entrance Hall, she had happened to come in at the same time as me. She seems like a really nice girl." When Jasmine asked if he moved a lot, he studied her before responding, and said, "Yeah.....it's good to have a change. Staying in one place for too long can be kind of annoying. But I've had enough of moving now. Im happy to stay here in England now with my....." Jayden hesitated at this point, not sure what to say. If he told them that he had a guardian, they would realize that something had happened to his parents.
Trying to get past the awkward silence, he feebly asked the girls, "So, do you two have tons of friends here?" He scuffed his dress shoe in complete shame, as this was the worst cover he could possibly think of. He had let himself slip at the worst time, and he just knew it would come back to bite him. Maybe he would have to move, after all.....if they came hunting for him.

Twyla giggled. She had always loved having her birthday on Halloween. Twyla listened intently to Jay. "Never met either of them. I'm a Slytherin so most Gryffindors either ignore or tease me, including my sister. But she's a brat so I don't count her. Jas is a special exception." she remarked. Twyla thought back to their first meeting. So many people had teased Twyla for being friends with a Gryffie but had finally stopped when they realized they weren't hurting her at all.
Twyla remained silent a little longer until Jay asked a question. "Actually, no. I have very few friends. You and Jas are about it." she said. Twyla hoped they would find something more to talk about. She desperately needed distraction from everything that was going on in her life.

Jasmine stared curiously at Jayden after his sudden subject change. He seemed awkward and out of place, as though he didn't want to share any more. She wasn't about to pry after meeting him only mere minutes ago, but she wanted badly to know. Jas was too curious for her own good. She'd lost count of the people who had warned her about her thirst for unnecessary knowledge--gossip, names, relationships, etc.
"Well, if we ever get boring, Jayden, just tell us. We'll leave you alone." She laughed lightly and winked at him. Jasmine always felt it her job to make things less awkward if awkwardness ever arose, though once in a while she made the situation even worse.
More than once in a while, actually.
Jasmine heard her Slytherin friend talking about her few friends in Hogwarts, and she snorted as she dubbed Jas as a 'special exception.'
"Ya, but that's only because I'm the only one that can stand you!" she joked, lightly nudging Twyla in the arm, the soft sleeve of her shirt falling slightly from its rolled up position. Pushing it back into place, Jasmine answered Jayden's original question.
"I don't have that many friends." She smiled a pretty, polite smile, thinking the question was odd in the context of which they were speaking. "Only a few thousand."

When Twyla told Jayden that most of the Gryffindors ignored her because she was a Slytherin, he couldn't help but tell her, "I honestly see no point in the divison between the houses. At every wizarding school I've been to its been the same: The students hate each of the other houses because they have been told they are different, when they are really almost all the same." Jayden stopped there, afraid to say anything else. He really shouldn't have let himself burst out like that, but he had been meaning to tell someone, anyone that for a long time.
Taking a deep breath, Jayden was quite surprised when Twyla told him that Jasmine and himself were her only real friends. He frowned and then said, "I would have no idea if you didn't tell me. You really seem like the type that would be fairly well known. I guess we're going to have to make you get a few new friends." He smiled at her, knowing that if she hung around someone like Jayden, she would get new friends fast. For some reason, Jayden was quite charismatic, especially around women.
When Jasmine told him that he could leave them whenever he felt bored, he nudged her and said, "I doubt I'll ever be bored around you two. I can just tell that you two will be quite mischievous when you get back up to speed." When Jasmine said that she only had a thousand friends, Jayden sarcastically replied, "ONLY a thousand? Wow. Even Twyla has more than that. I got like ten thousand. That is, if you consider a friend someone who you saw randomly walking down the street." Jayden laughed and gave her a wink at this point. He had noticed that Twyla was being fairly quiet, and realized that she was probably just thinking about what she said.
Jayden brushed this thought away, and then watched Jasmine poke some fun at Twyla. The two seemed to be fairly close, and he momentarily wondered how close Twyla and her sister were. Jayden didn't have any siblings of his own, so he always wondered how close people were with their siblings. He made a mental note to make sure that he had 2 or 3 kids, so that they would be able to be there for each other.
