Sandbox playdate. [Sirius]

Walking with a very excited two year old at her side, Adriana made her way to the park laughing as her daughter rambled on bubbly about her friends at the park. Grinning down at her, she couldn’t help but feel elated that she had made it this far with Regulus and that they had a beautiful and rather eccentric daughter. Reaching the park after their short walk from their flat, Adriana plopped Katie on the bench bending down to meet her at eye level. While taking off her daughters shoes, she set the ground rules. “Now Katie remember honey no mention of magic to the muggles, Do not put sand in that boys hair again and please try to keep the sand out of your hair too.” She said knowing that her efforts to remind her were probably fruitless as her daughter was watching the other kids play happily in the sandbox. Placing her daughter back on the ground, she laughed as her daughter ran to the sandbox chatting happily with her playmates.

Sitting down at the bench that was previously occupied by her daughter, Adriana’s mind wandered to her own childhood memories playing at the park. Snapping back to reality she grinned as her daughter stumbled in the sand landing flat on her behind hind, muttering angrily at a Mr. Sandyman box person for making her stumble. Vaguely wondering what Regulus was up to, she reached into the nappy sac and pulled out a juice box. Enjoying the tarty flavor of the apple juice she sipped happily basking in the afternoon sun and breeze.

Sirius was in his animagus form, he had made his way through the muggle suburbs unseen. Addie often brought Katie to this park, and he often came to watch her play in the sand while Addie or Regulus or both of them sat on one of the benches and watch as her hair got more and more sand in it. Today he arrived before Addie and Katie, and laid down in a hedge on the opposite side of the playground to the bench Addie usually sat on.

They soon arrived, however, and their routine was the same, Addie would put Katie on the bench and take off her shoes, and speak to her, probably telling her not to throw sand at the other kids. then would let her go off and play, and occupy the bench herself. This time Addie would find her routine interrupted, Sirius was going to show himself. Sirius watched Katie play for a moment longer, before disappearing through the hedge. On the other side he transformed, after making sure the alleyway was empty. He straightened up, and walked round the hedge outside of the park, to the gate. He pushed it open and walked casually inside. He hovered for a moment about ten feet from where Addie was sitting. Then made a decision. He wandered over to the bench and sat down next to Addie, watching Katie.

Watching her daughter cause chaos she noticed someone sit themselves down next to her. Not wanting to be rude she turned to introduce herself when she was met with a sight she hadn’t expected to see. Surprised at who she saw next to her she squealed happily and gave him a hug. “Sirius, Merlin I haven’t seen you in forever. How have you been?” she asked excitedly, happy to see a familiar face.

Unable to keep the grin off her face she looked fondly at her friend before remembering that her daughter was with her. Yelling at Katie to come to the bench for a minute she heard the pitter patter of her daughter’s feet followed by giggles as she obviously saw why her mother called. Katie wrapped her arms around Sirius’s leg filling the air with her bubbly laughter squealing something sounding like Sirius every so often. Grinning at her Daughter and Sirius she laughed at her enthusiasm. “Seems someone else is happy to see you too.”

Sirius laughed as Addie squealed, and hugged him, and he hugged her back. "I'm good, career's going well." he said grinning widely. He grinned down at the little giggly mass suddenly attached to his leg. "Apparently so." he said laughing. He reached down and picked Katie up, and put her on his knee. "Well Katie, aren't you a sandy little girl. what on earth have you been doing?" She pointed at the sand box. "I see, well that explains a lot. It doesn't however explain why Mummy isn't covered in sand too now does it?" he said glancing at Addie and grinning wickedly. "Shall we go and play in the sand box together?" he said to Katie, grinning like a five year old.

She nodded excitedly, and Sirius put her back down on the ground. She took his hand and pulled him over to the sandbox. The two of them sat down in the sand, and Sirius muttered a spell, and moments later pulled a bucket and two spades out of his pocket. I love big pockets. He thought still grinning, giving a spade to Katie, who began to pile sand in the bucket.

Laughing as he hugged her back talking about his career she couldn’t help but feel extremely happy for him. Watching him pick up Katie so naturally brought a smile to her face, ‘Better late than never’ she thought remembering their first meeting not to long ago. "Yes it does, mummy is quite happy to be sand free for as long as possible." she said wearily at his mischievous grin. She knew she could avoid the sand while at the park but when it would be time to bathe Katie she would be covered in more than just sand. Laughing as the pair made their way into the sand; Adriana reached into the nappy and pulled out her camera, snapping pictures Sirius and Katie’s play time.

Katie quite happy to have her favorite playmate with her, took the spade from his offering hand and began to pile it in the bucket. Looking at the full bucket skeptically, she wondered what to do with a bucket full of sand. Stretching her legs across the sand, she dumped the sand over them hiding them from view. “Oh I got no feets.” She giggled wiggling her toes making the smallest ripples in the sand.

Sirius laughed as Katie tipped the bucket of sand over her legs. "No wonder you're so covered in sand." said Sirius in a sing song voice. "But i think we could make you have no body at all. Would you like that?" he asked with a grin. Katie nodded eagerly. Right what we have to do is dig a whole for you to lie in, come on, help me" he said digging frantically, and sending the sand flying over his shoulder. This would be so much easier if I could transform, but hey, that would ruin their excellently executed hiding from the wizarding world. So he continued digging the muggle way, and soon there was a nice wide, long hole about 3 inches deep. "Right, now Katie, you have to lie in it."

Katie nodded enthusiastically at the thought of being body less. Digging happily with Sirius they made a rather larger hole in the sandbox. Giggling as he gave her the go ahead to lie in the hole, she positioned her body to be somewhere in-between lying down and sitting. Using her hands, she brought sand from the sides into the hole with her covering her legs partially as she could reach the rest with her little arms. “Help me, I don’t reach.” She said with a pout, extending her arms again to demonstrate.

Sirius smiled down at Katie and began piling sand into the bucket, which he promptly tipped on he rfeet whe she got upset because she couldn't reach.

"Why don't you concentrate on the bits you can reach, and I'll do the rest huh?" he said , whilst piling yet more sand into the bucket., and dumping it on her lower legs, he did all the way up her legs, and Katie had packed sand around her body, but none on top. "Right, now what you have to do id lie down, and lie very still or bits of you body will show." He piled more sand in the bucket, that deciding scooping it up in his hands was quicker. "Comfy? All wriggled out?" he asked, and tipped the bucket of sand on her tummy., spreading it out, so that it was easier to see how much more he needed.

Pouting as she debated whether to just lay back and let Sirius dump the sand on her. Shrugging she laid down on the sand as he requested, wiggling as much as possible before it got to the point where she couldn’t move anymore. “I is wiggled out.” She said giggling as he dumped the sand on her tummy. “That tickles.” Turning her head slightly to look at her mum, Katie grinned. “Look at me mummy, no body just me head.” She said giggling.

Adriana grinned at her daughter and Sirius. Shaking her head with mirth she shouted back at her daughter. “You look lovely darling.” Deciding that Regs would probably kill her when she showed up at the flat with a little sand monster she shouted at Sirius. “Oi, I’ll have you know that you will be the one to give her a bath tonight, I don’t even want to contemplate trying to get all that sand off her.” She said with a laugh.

Very quickly katie's body was covered, and Sirius found himself laughing at Addie and her protests at him covering her daughter in sand.

"Look, if it's really that much bother, I'll come and do it myself, as you request. We have fun in the bathroom don't we Katie?!" Said Sirius happily to the head surrounded by sand, who grinned and nodded enthusiastically. Come on them bodiless monster, lets find your body shall we?

Adriana shook her head laughing along with Sirius while looking at her sand covered daughter.

"Oh believe me Sirius Black I will take you up on that offer?!" She said mock threateningly “Just wait till you have to get sand out of her toes, behind her ears and her hair while she tries to keep playing in the water away from your prying hands; you’ll be begging me to com help you because you are all wet yourself.” She remembering the many times Regulus called her because he took Katie to play in the sand.

Katie giggled as Sirius began to move the sand around to free her body. Once the sand was thin enough, she sat up and jumped out of her hole, more like wobbled into Sirius giggling the whole time. “Bubly bubble bath time, with Mr. Duckie too.” She told Sirius referring to her favorite bath time toy a bright yellow rubber duck.

Sirius laughed at Katie as she jumped out of the sand spraying it everywhere, and promptly fell into him. He grabbed her under the arms, and stood her up straight. He too stood up and took her hand, leading her back over to the bench.

"I think that's enough time in the sand for now Katie, I don't think you could get any more covered in sand if you tried." He sat down on the bench next to Addie, and put Katie in between them. "Is it time to go home?" he asked Addie with a cheeky grin. He didn't mind bathing Katie, he didn't get soaked like she or Regulus did, it was hilarious to see their faces when he came out of the bathroom carrying a towel clad Katie, and being completely bone dry.

Katie giggled while sitting in between her mum and Sirius. “Okie dokie smokie.” She said bubbly, excited for bath time.

"I think she has more sand on her than there is in the sand box." She said playfully grinning at her daughter. "Definitely time, you’re indeed of a bath too as your not exactly sand free. Plus ill whip up some lunch while you bathe this little sand witch of mine" She said humored as she knew the only person Katie behaved with during her bath time was Sirius for some odd reason.

"And with the lure of food how could I possibly refuse your invite back to the flat?" he said with a cheeky grin. He scooped Katie up, and carried her under one arm all the way out of the park as she gilled and wriggled. Sirius cast a silent cushioning charm on Katie in case she wriggled so much he dropped her.

"Of course not, didn’t you know it was all part of the plan?" she said just as cheekily. Laughing as Sirius carried Katie much like he would a bag she shook her head leading the way back to the flat. The visit to the park had turned out much more fun then she thought, ‘So much for monotony’ she mused to herself.
