History:
Catrine comes from a pureblooded family of respectable wizards and witches. She was raised by her aunt and her father, attending family parties and being taken to social dinners almost as soon as she could talk. Her father was a Slytherin before her, and his parents before him. Cat's character doesn't necessarily always reflect the qualities that her house is known for--the unreasonable assumptions that everyone in Slytherin must waste their time picking juvenile fights, hating muggles, and conspiring to rule over all of wizardkind were completely unfounded when it came to her.
When she got to be Hogwarts-aged, her father debated sending her to Beaubaxtons, but Cat wanted to stay as close to home as she could. Her closest friend at school was Eddie Paul, who was also pureblooded and had been going to the same dinner parties that Cat had for years. She was sorted into Slytherin like her family expected, but didn't many many friends in her house, spending her time with Eddie instead.
Eddie and Cat's friendship escalated into a close relationship over a short number of years. He was her top priority--her father wasn't as strict about grades as his parents were. Often, Cat would do what she could to distract him from his homework, playful but never getting him into trouble if she could help it.
She didn't have many great aspirations, and wasn't as sure about her future as Eddie was with his writing. Cat liked studying magical theory and experimenting with new spells, but didn't pretend that she could do it for the rest of her life. Just the opposite of her hardworking boyfriend, Cat would gladly leave an essay to be done fifteen minutes before class began, sometimes not even finishing it. Her attention was easily dragged away from homework, often by her own imagination.
