Jayden sighed as the large Entrance Hall doors swung open, admitting him inside the cavernous room. It felt good to be able to breathe normally again, as the boy felt quite terrified at the large, imposing outside that was the entrance to Hogwarts. Looking around, he didn't see anybody, so he tugged his large suitcase full of things that he would need to survive two years at Hogwarts.
It felt weird moving schools this late into his wizarding life, but his guardian had felt that it was necessary. "Things change over time, and I think it's time you got out of here." Is all he really said, but Jayden knew that he meant more than that. Jayden knew that what he was really saying is that trouble seemed to follow Jayden like a lost puppy. Then again, he probably deserved it.
Letting go of his wheeled suitcase and letting it sit in the corner of the Hall, he brushed his short, curly black hair slightly with his hand. Girls often commented that his hair was quite cute, and although this puzzled him slightly, he didn't mind it one bit. Getting some attention from girls was never really a bad thing, even if you didn't know what to say. It was a conversation starter, for sure.

Alyssa stood outside the huge doors of the castle, just staring at it's extravagance. She couldn't believe the huge transition from a normal boring school to..this. It looked so huge from the outside, she was afraid that she would be lost in the school her whole life, not being able to leave. She thought back to one of those cheesy horror movies about a stupid girl who ends up lost in a huge place, to have her life ended by a slimy green blob. Alyssa thought that if she quickly left and went back to the normal world she could live her life peacefully as a normal teenager- and not get eaten by a green blob. She wasn't even laughing at the horrendously unreal thought. Afterall, it magic existed, what else could possibly be waiting for her? After taking a deep breath, she went into Hogwarts.
Alyssa dragged her bags in and dropped it on the ground, relaxing her arms and muscles. She stretched her arms and looked at the interior of the castle while she calmed down. "It's amazing.." She mumbled, not able to think of any other word to describe the castle with. She looked around, ooo-ing and ahh-ing at everything. Finally she noticed she wasn't the only one in the room.
Alyssa quickly turned around and saw a boy with short curly black hair. "Oh, Hello..." She looked at the boy and wondered why he wasn't with the other students in the great hall. (She could tell by the noisy chatter coming from another huge door.) "Are you late as well..?", She asked quietly, hoping she wasn't being nosy. Then her mind emphasized on the word--nosy. "Uh, my manners, right. Um, I'm Alyssa Weller and I'm a 6th year. How.. about you?" She said, again hoping she wasn't imposing.

Jane was running, her sneakers were squeaking in protest as she rounded a corner. Her long blond hair flew out behind her as she ran down the stairs. She had spent the afternoon holed up in the library studying for a Charms test. Her bookbag was overflowing and as she ran she felt the shoulder strap digging into her muscle. She jumped the last two steps of the stair case and headed toward the stairwell that would lead her into the Entrance Hall and then into the Great Hall for dinner.
She ran quickly across the hall and soon reached the stairs. She began sprinting down the hall, vaguely taking in a boy standing next to a suitcase and a girl walking in through the large oak doors. It was almost sunset so the sun was posistioned to shine directly through the open doors. The light momentarily blinded her and so when she turned left at the bottom of the staircase she misjudged the distance between the end of the banister and herself. The resulting situation ended up with all of her books strewn across the floor and a huge hole in the bottom of her book bag.
"Shite!" Jane cursed softly and lowering herself to sit on the balls of her feet, she picked up her bookbag and removed her wand. "Reparo," she muttered and the leavther bag began to mend itself. She dropped her wand onto the floor with a soft plink before she began to pull all her books back toward her.

Ooc: Welcome back! *dances*
Jayden pushed away his thoughts when he saw a girl walk in, looking quite the same as him: A lost new-arrival. Jayden chuckled, as the girl looked like she needed some help. The expression on her face reminded him of a girl he had once known; She looked as if she was the girl that gets killed by the creepy mass-murderer in a horror movie.
Watching her pull her luggage into the room, he also noticed that she was simply amazed at the "Grandeur" of the castle. Maybe it was her first year at a wizarding school, or something. When it came to extravagence, Hogwarts was near the bottom of the barrel. Other schools were not quite as ancient as Hogwarts, but many of them were absolutely stunning in comparison to the drab walls of Hogwarts. Nonetheless, it was still an imposing site, so Jayden reasoned that the girl must be a Muggle-born.
Walking towards her, he smiled kindly at her as she began to speak to him, she spoke more in circles than anything. When she asked if he was late as well, he replied, "Yeah, I just came in myself. I'm a sixth year as well. Got transferred over from Beauxbatons. It's another wizarding school if you don't know. Is this your first one?" He wondered if she would know what her 'first one' would mean, but she could ask if she was confused anyways.
Suddenly remembering that he didn't tell her his name, he added, "Oh, and you can call me Jay. Or Jayden. Doesn't really matter." Jayden didn't particularly like his full name, so oftentimes he would ask people to call him Jay instead. He also left out his last name on purpose, as he doubted she would know who the Hawls were anyways. If she did, it would be nothing short of a miracle.
Hearing loud, thudding footsteps coming closer from another direction, Jayden craned his head and watched a blonde girl come rushing in, trip, and scatter her books everywhere on the floor. Jayden could hardly contain his laughter as he strolled over, looking back at Alyssa momentarily, before kneeling on the ground and helping the girl collect her books. Leaning over towards her, he murmered, "Y'know, you really should be more careful next time. You could have cracked your skull if you were running any faster." Jayden grinned, knowing that he was going to make her even more embarassed, and then said, "What's your name? Mine's Jay, and this girl over here is named Alyssa."

She listened to him as he spoke and smiled, though it felt to her that it was rather fake. It must've been her nerves. She felt as if he had a slightly condescending tone. It wasn't really what he said but it just bugged her a bit. Alyssa assured herself that she was just imagining it or she was just getting dizzy from the huge school. "Beauxbatons, yeah, my father told me about it. It's suppose to be quite the school..." She said nervously. Alyssa tugged on her sweater and looked around, trying to calm herself down. She felt like a poser. She wasn't a muggle, but yet she acted exactly like one. She blamed it on her mother-- keeping her sheltered from the world of magic--Making her seem like an idiot. Before she got wrapped up in her thoughts, she quickly remembered the boy had asked her a question. "Oh, yes. This is the first wizarding school I've been to. And..it's obviously not your first time." She said, stating the obvious. "Sorry. I'm not trying to sound sarcastic." Alyssa added just in case it sounded mean.
"Um, it's okay, I'll call you Jayden." She said after he told her his name. She liked talking to people formally. Anyway, she wouldn't call a person by their nickname if she didn't know the person all that well. Alyssa felt that nicknames were a sign of close friendships and could only be used when it was apparent that 'you were friends'. She noticed he didn't say his last name, but she didn't really want to impose. After all, she didn't want to get hexed on her first day of school.
As she was about to say something, she heard the sound of falling books hitting the ground. She looked over and saw a blonde haired girl with her books lying on the floor, and noticed that her book bag had a rip at the bottom. Alyssa walked over to help her gather the girl's books. She was about to say that she could sew the rip up, but before she could say anything the girl had gone on to repair her bag with magic. "Um, are you okay?" She asked quietly, feeling like she was the only one in the school without the knowledge of a proper spell. Alyssa smiled kindly when Jayden had introduced himself as well as her.
((OOC: In the first line, it meant that I felt that MY smile was fake, not yours =P))

Jane was still gathering books when she saw a boy kneel down next to her. She looked at the boy and was abuot to smile (he was cute afterall), but stopped herself when he spoke. What right did the boy have to tell her what she should do next time? They had never even crossed paths in their lives. Jane had to admit he was cute, but the smile that showed his amusement in her fall outweighed his cuteness momentarily. He was amused at his attempt to make her embarassed. He was such a typical teenage boy. Jane rolld her eyes. She wasn't about to allow some transfer to make her feel embarassed. Her eyes slightly narrowed, "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize you were watching, next time I see you, I'll be sure to break a bone."
She turned away from the boy as two hands holding books came into her eyesight. She turned to who she assumed to be the other new arrival. She smiled warmly at the girl, forgetting abut the irritating boy standing next to her. "Thanks so much!" She heard the boy ask her name and introduce himself and the girl. "Hello Alyssa, I'm Jane, Jane Till." She continued to ignore the boy, "What house and year are you? I'm a sixth year Gryffindor." She could tell the girl was overwhelmed by Hogwarts, and it reminded Jane of how terrified she was her first months at Hogwarts.
She took the books from Alyssa and put them in the mended school bag. After she had put all the books she had piled away, she turned to the books in Jay's hands. She grudgingly made eye contact with him and muttered a quick "thanks" before looking away. She took the books from him and put them in her bag. She placed the bag over her shoulder and stood up at the foot of the stairs.

Jayden smiled back as Alyssa began to talk. She was such a sweetheart, he could tell right away. But he could also sense that he might have said something wrong, she sounded pretty put off. Sighing inwardly, (the trouble mentioned before seemed to still be following him) he was somewhat surprised to hear that she knew of Beauxbatons, which obviously meant that she wasn't the Muggle he thought she was. So he said, "I'm sorry. I'm afraid I thought you were a Muggle-born because this was your first wizarding school. Please forgive me."
Jayden felt quite abashed at this, as he was assuming without knowing. A dangerous combination. He felt really bad for the girl, as he was being kind of rude, especially to a girl that didn't know quite what she was doing. He hoped that she would recognize that his apology was sincere. He laughed when she mentioned that it was obvious that it wasn't his first wizarding school, and said, "Yeah, I've been to a few. So I can always use magic to help you out while you are learning the ropes." He gave her a comforting smile as he finished, and then turned back to the other girl, who was just finishing stuffing the rest of her books back into her bag.
Immediately, Jayden knew that the girl had taken his joke the wrong way. She confirmed his suspicions when she basically told him to go bugger off. He cast his eyes downward, not knowing what to say. He didn't intend at all to be an insult, he was kidding around, but he supposed that she didn't know that. He retreated a few steps, looking back at Alyssa while his cheeks bloomed into a full red. Five minutes into Hogwarts, and he had already screwed something up. Smooth.
Jayden watched the girl snatch up her bag and stand at the stairs, obviously wanting nothing to do with him. His mind whirled, searching for something to say to the fiery girl, but came up with nothing. Looking at Alyssa for support, he realized that she probably wouldn't know what to say in his situation, either. His heart sank even lower, but he managed to turn back to Jane and say in a quiet voice, "I didn't mean for you to take it that way. If I had known that you would react that way, I never would have said anything. I wasn't trying to be an idiot."

Alyssa looked at him as he apologized. Was she really that easy to read? She felt bad that he thought she was annoyed at him. Well, she was-- a bit, but Alyssa just thought it was her. "Uh- No. It's alright!", She quickly said. "To tell you the truth. I just found out myself. My parents kept it a secret from me. I think my mom wanted me to be a normal girl." She said and pretended to sound dreary when she spoke about her mother.
Alyssa smiled. She felt a bit more comfortable around him. The way he laughed and smiled, made her wonder why she even thought he was condescending. She listened as he offered to help her with magic and what not. "Thank you very much!" She said smiling and laughing. This school wasn't as scary as she thought it was. The green blob seemed to disappear.
Alyssa saw how Jane had been offended. She wanted to laugh at their bickering because she thought they sounded like husband and wife. But she felt she'd be better to keep those thoughts to herself. She didn't want to be part of the conflict. She saw how Jayden had looked to her. Alyssa quickly faced the floor, not knowing what to say. She quickly looked up when Jane had asked her something. "Oh, I'm in the 6th year. I'm in Hufflepuff." She said quietly. She listened when Jayden had apologized and quickly added, "I'm sure he was just joking. You know..um...boy will be boys..?" Alyssa said lamely and looked down. She thought it was probably the cheesiest thing she'd said her whole life. But it was true. She smiled and shrugged at Jayden, trying to tell him that it was the best she could do.

Jane was still standing at the foot of the stairs. She couldn't get her legs to move. The boy had em brassed her and she guess she understood how it could have been taken out of context. But the real reason why she hadn't moved was because of both the people's reactions to her comment. The boy had apologized, no boy at Hogwarts apologized for making fun of a girl. But here one was, and he did it with such sincerity she couldn't help but feel her anger and resentment slip away. Then the girl spoke and Jane wanted to smile but kept her face still. The girl had just met the boy but was still explaining his misinterpreted intentions. Jane liked this girl.
Jane didn't know what to do. She had been genuinely embarrassed and upset, but now both of their apologies had made her feel like the bad person. As she sat there debating what she should do she nervously began smoothing out her white oxford and school skirt. She then straightened her red and gold tie before stopping her nervous fidgeting. She looked back and forth between the two students, She felt bad for yelling so despite the awkwardness of the situation she decided to apologize. She looked to the boy and stepped down the two stairs she had ascended. Once she was in front of him, she extended her hand and looked into his face. "Sorry, I over reacted. I seem to be falling a lot this year. I'm just sick of hurting myself." She attempted a smile but she wasn't sure if it looked sincere.
She had noticed after falling her wrist was a little sore. [i[ Great, another injury.[/i] Jane thought. She turned to the girl now, rubbing her wrist in the sore spots. "So, your a Hufflepuff. That's great but too bad that your not in my house." Now, Jane decided to ignore what had happened between her and Jay earlier. She faced him again. "What about your year and house?"[/color]

Jayden listened to Alyssa talk about her mother, and how she had been sheltered from the wizarding world for most of her life. This wasn't the norm, as usually parents eventually broke down when the kids were old enough to begin Hogwarts. Putting his hand on her arm as comfort, he told her, "That must have been a hard reality to accept, especially when your already settled into Muggle school. But I'm glad that you came here. I think Hogwarts will be better with you here."
As Alyssa thanked him for his offer to help her with magic, he remembered his manners and asked the two girls, "Are either of you cold? I can use a Bluebell charm if you like to warm us up." Jayden joined in Alyssa's laughter when she told Jane that Jayden was just being a normal boy, and added, "Yeah, I suppose I'm just being a typical guy. It's too bad....I try so hard not to be." Smiling, he saw that Jane had still not moved away from the stairs, which served to remind him that things weren't quite fixed yet.
He had no idea what to do about that, however, so he instead answered her question about which house and year he was in: "I'm a sixth year Ravenclaw....although I think the Sorting Hat was a bit off. I kind of wanted to be a Gryffindor. They sound much cooler than just being a smartypants." He cocked his head sideways, realizing that she had not offered up her year or house yet, and said, "What about yourself?"
When Jayden heard her apologize for what she had said, the mood between the three of them lifted considerably. Jayden was happy that she was feeling the same as he, and that she was not even angrier for his apology then she had been before. Now, things were mended, and he told her, "I don't know if you should be the one apologizing. But I'll take it anyways." He gave her a small small before walking back to the corner to pick up his suitcase.

Alyssa felt nervous for butting in. But there was nothing wrong with helping someone, was there? After all, that's why she was sorted to Hufflepuff. She would've rather been in Gryffindor like Jane, but she had to admit that she wasn't courageous or whatever. She shook her head sadly at her own thoughts, then refocused back to the two students. "Yeah, it was really hard to believe that magic actually existed, but my parents had ways.." She joked and smiled. "And thank you for saying that. It was very kind of you." She laughed.
Alyssa dug her hands into the pocket of her robes. When Jayden had offered to cast a charm to warm them up, she politely refused, "It's alright. These robes are pretty thick.." She wasn't used to magic, and seeing other people use it just made her feel useless. She thought that she should have at least learned 1 spell-- Or just force her father to teach her, but it was too late now. When Jayden had said that he didn't want to be a typical guy, Alyssa laughed and quickly covered her mouth, hoping she wasn't being rude. She thought it was ironic that he said he tried not to be normal. He WAS a wizard.
"I would've really enjoyed being in Gryffindor. I actually wanted to be in that house. But I don't think I'm all that courageous.", Alyssa said, her shoulders slumped down as she replied to Jane.
She listened as Jane apologized to Jayden and felt the remaining tension lift. Alyssa went to her bags and quickly dragged it towards the two, feeling nervous that she had left her baggage unattended. She looked between Jayden and Jane. Alyssa started to feel awkward. Not knowing how to strike up a conversation. "Um..does anyone..know..the time..?", She asked nervously. She could imagine herself slapping her fore head. That statement sound SO lame. What an ice-breaker question, eh?
