Regulus looked from the door to his brother, then back to the door again. For all the idiotic amounts of anti-visitor protection dad had put on the house, it certainly didn't mean anything when the two people that the elder Blacks hoped never to see again could walk straight up to the door and knock. Supposedly, the people they didn't want to see couldn't find the house. Regulus could have been blindfolded and dropped anywhere in London and still been able to find his way home...perhaps it was the tingly feeling of hundreds of years of dark magic, or just an internal sense of belonging, but he could do it.
He sighed and tucked his hands quickly under his arms, glaring at Sirius. "Why do I have to knock?" he whined, annoyed both with his brother and with himself, because he was reminded forcibly at that moment of himself at age five and Sirius at seven, and Sirius telling him why he should be the one to stick his hand in the dinner soup and make sure that Kreacher wasn't brewing acid. "You got kicked out first. If you really want to visit mum, you should do it." He was old enough now to argue with a point at least a little more valid than 'I'm going to get in trouble, Sirius!'
Besides, how did they know that dad hadn't put some sort of anti-son charm on the door? How did they know that, when they did knock, they wouldn't be caught up in some horrible curse? Regulus had enough to worry about with Snape and the neo-Death Eaters....he didn't need to deal with dad as well. He'd read the books in the library...there was information in the house about some pretty nasty magic.
And he had a family to keep safe. If there was some sort of instant death spell on the door, Sirius should be the one to deal with it. Weren't Gryffindors supposed to be brave to the point of stupidity? Regulus wasn't going to take idiotic risks here...he wanted to be able to watch Katie grow up. It wasn't long ago that he and his brother had been mortal enemies. Regulus didn't feel too guilty about leaving him to the mercy of the Front Door.

Sirius watched as his brother glanced nervously between himself and the door. He for one didn't particularly want to be here, but if telling his mother that he and Regulus were bestest buddies again, and saying that he admitted to being a bad influence on his brother was going to get him his inheritance sooner, then it was worth going back into the house again.
"I don't want to visit her, I want to see her and estimate how long it's going to be before she kicks the bucket, and besides, she still likes you, so she'd be less likely to slam the door in our faces if she sees you first."
As far as he could remember the door had never been cursed, but now he came to think of it, if his father had wanted to keep anyone away they were never able to find the house. then again, he and Regulus had found the house, and were even now standing on the front step. Sirius watched as Regulus regarded the door with suspicion. Rolling his eyes, Sirius reached in front of his brother, and knocked on the door. Nothing happened.
"See, what are you so worried about? Now stand in front of me so Mum sees you first."

Regulus gladly stood aside as Sirius knocked on the door. He watched apprehensively as Sirius stepped back, waiting for his brother to suddenly collapse or burst out in hives or turn into a puff of green smoke and vanish. Failing all of that, Regulus at least expected that Sirius's hand would fall off.
In the moments of quiet anticipation that followed the knock, when Sirius pushed Regulus forward and proceeded to defy every suspicion that had flooded his mind. Curious, that the door wasn't cursed. It must be the foot mat then, or perhaps the door handle itself. They'd have to see if the door would be opened or if mum would leave it for them to open themselves.
The handle creaked to the left, and the door swung open. But rather than mum greeting them, Regulus's eyes panned down until he was staring at Kreacher, who looked completely unchanged for the months that Regulus had been out of the house.
"Master Regulus," Kreacher said, sounding surprised. His eyes lingered on Sirius for a moment, but he didn't say anything else.
"Hullo Kreacher," Regulus said awkwardly. "We were...wondering if mum was home?" Where else would she be, though? Not like she goes out calling to our relatives any more, he thought. "It's a bit cold out here. Think you could let us in, mate?"
Kreacher looked skeptically at Sirius again. For a heartbeat, Regulus thought he'd say no. But then the elf stepped reluctantly aside. "Of course, Master Regulus. Anything you command, Kreacher must obey."
And then Regulus understood. For all that he and the house elf had been through together, they still had a master-slave relationship. Less so than Kreacher and mum, perhaps, but...if he commanded Kreacher to let them inside, Kreacher would have to. No point in being civil, then. Otherwise they'd stand on the porch all day.
"Take us to mum then, Kreacher," Regulus said, a tone of command slipping easily into his voice. "Both of us," he added, in case Kreacher tried to slam the door on Sirius.
With another baleful expression, Kreacher finally turned and began to walk down the corridor towards the kitchen, leaving Sirius and Regulus to follow and close the door behind themselves. Regulus walked into the foyer, looking around the one place he swore he'd never enter again.

Sirius stood nervously behind Regulus as he talked to Kreacher, and told him to let them in. Sirius was partly glad that they still had power over Kreacher, but this also meant that one of them would inherit him. Regulus could have him, Sirius didn't need a house elf, not in his flat. Regulus might like one if they were going to move into a house, but somehow he didn't think they would want him either.
He had always regarded Kreacher with suspicion, and seriously suspected him of telling his mum and dad about some of the thing he had done when they were younger. He noticed it when Kreacher's eyes lingered on him, and narrowed his eyes at the elf, knowing their mutual hatred would last until one of them died.
Sirius glanced at Regulus before following him into the foyer. It hadn't changed a bit since the last time he'd been here five years ago to collect the last of his stuff before moving into his flat.
"After you." he said gesturing after Kreacher.

He followed Kreacher quickly, wondering what his brother was thinking about. The last time he'd been in the foyer with Sirius, he'd gotten punched in the face. Feeling odd and having a tingling in his nose almost anticipatory of another punch, Regulus looked down at Kreacher and wondered why they were being led up the back way...the house elf's stairs. Through the kitchen?
It became clear that Kreacher was deliberately leading Sirius and Regulus out of their way to come up the back like beggars or servants as time wore on. Regulus wasn't extremely upset by that realization--he'd seen more than one dishonored relative snubbed the same way. But it was humbling to walk through the house of his childhood and know that he was being treated like a complete stranger. Or maybe not a stranger...but an undesirable guest, at least.
They ended up walking down the hall that led to their respective bedrooms. Regulus glanced at his door, amused to find it closed and still sporting the notice he'd stuck to it just after he began Hogwarts. He looked briefly at his handwriting...his signature had changed slightly with time, but otherwise it looked like he'd written it yesterday.
Sirius's door was closed too, which when they did live there had never been the case. Sirius was notorious for leaving the door to his room open when company called, the muggle posters and photos of his friends plastered over the antique wallpaper for any passerby to clearly see. Regulus almost felt like the hall was unbalanced with the door closed...like a portrait had been removed.
They ultimately came up on the parlor, and Regulus felt his stomach twist nervously. There were many things that had changed since he'd last stood there and faced his mum and dad, told them he was quitting Voldemort's people and moving out of the house. That conversation hadn't gone well...but surely they'd have to admit now that he'd made the right decision. He was getting married soon, and he had a daughter...and if he was talking to his brother, wasn't that good too? But there were so many ways mum could turn it against him...and Regulus hadn't been officially disowned yet, but he suspected that it might happen today.
Kreacher stopped at the door. Regulus paused, looking at Sirius. He wanted to say cheekily, After you, but he knew that he should probably go into the room first. Sirius was right...mum always had liked him.
He took a deep breath and walked into the parlor, eyes traveling first over the family tree tapestry, then over the face of the woman sitting before it. Clutching her wand in one meaty hand.
"Regulus," she grated, watery eyes blinking in surprise. He stopped midway into the parlor, not taking his eyes off her.
"Mum," he replied, not daring to look up at the tapestry...and the burns he knew he'd find there.

Sirius followed Regulus and Kreacher through the house, up the back stairs, this didn't phase him, it was his preferred route up to his bedroom, no one could hear his footsteps in any room in the house if he came this way. Which was quite good, as his footsteps had always been quite heavy, never built for being a seeker, unlike Regulus.
They soon reached the top of the stairs, and Sirius saw Regulus look around. He too took in the sign on his brother's door. It had been written during a period of lots of fighting between the two of them, both in Hogwarts and out. Regulus had felt the need to define his space, and had done so. The door was still closed, as it always was, locked too probably.
His own door was closed too, Sirius felt a stab of anger, his door was never closed unless he was asleep, when he locked himself in. He made a point of making sure it stayed open when visitors came to call, just so they could see his bikini clad muggle girls and motorbikes clearly. He had always been proud of being different, always the rebel, always the one trying to convince Regulus to get into trouble.
They soon reached the parlour door, and Sirius and Regulus paused either side of it, Sirius waited for the cheeky 'after you', but it didn't come. Instead Regulus went in first, for which Sirius was glad. He heard her say his name in a surprised voice, and him reply with 'mum' Sirius wouldn't call her that. She wasn't his mum, she didn't love him, and he wouldn't show her any affection either.
He stepped cautiously through the door, and cleared his throat. He took it all in, it only took one glance, it was all so familiar. It had changed, but it so familiar he could feel himself suffocating in the memories, the punishments, the pranks, even the laughter when Regulus fell out of the grate and had a nose bleed all over the rug. the tapestry was no different to when he had last taken a look, Regulus hadn't been burned off it, yet. But he hadn't dated muggles, so maybe that was why.
His eyes met hers, and narrowed. He felt the air in the room chill with mutual hatred, disregard, resentment, and anger. "Sirius" her tone was harsh and cold, but did he really expect any different after his walking out nearly eight years ago?
"Mother." his tone matched hers, they did not break eye contact, as if the first person to break it would lose both their dignity and pride.

Regulus was grateful when mum's eyes shifted to Sirius, but the tension in the room grew to be almost suffocating when their gazes locked. After a long while, mum finally looked away from Sirius, or rather, looked through Sirius and then shifted her gaze to Regulus.
"Don't just stand there with your mouth open, Regulus. Straighten up," his mother barked.
Regulus jumped in surprise, straightening instantly and snapping his mouth closed. He blinked, taken aback. "Sorry, mum."
He looked cautiously away from her, eyes seeking out his name on the tapestry. There it was, Regulus scrolled nearly next to the scorch mark that used to hold his brother's name. For a moment, he stared at the name in shock, having completely expected that his mother would have blasted him out of the family like his brother. But apparently....apparently she still....she hadn't thought that he'd committed the ultimate sin in leaving the Dark Lord?
"Explain to me, Regulus, where exactly you have been, and what you've been doing. I've heard things, though the family and some loyal friends, that I don't particularly care for." Mum demanded.
Regulus felt his breath stick in his throat. Mum didn't approve...this could only lead to bad things. He felt words well up for a second, things he'd love to say to her that he never would, things he might say to talk his way out of trouble. But then one thought struck him, and it blanked out all the rest. I'm 21 years old. Why on earth am I afraid of being in trouble? What in Merlin's name can she do to me now?
"Well..." he paused, then turned and looked at Sirius. Where to begin? Telling her he was living like a muggle in a district as far from home in London as possible wasn't a good plan. Telling her he'd had a daughter that was celebrating her third birthday wasn't a good plan either. Espeically in context with Adriana's name...his eyes travelled to the scorch marks of the Bells on the tapestry. Falling in with blood traitors, pure though they might be, was exactly the way to get himself disowned. And he wasn't exactly working as of yet, but he'd gotten accepted at Hogwarts...teaching kids exactly how to undo many of the things that had once made his family proud. Not only that, but mum would surely think that teaching was below a person of his stature and ancestry. "I, uh..."

Sirius smirked as his mother eventually broke eye contact, perfect he would win this time, she was weaker than he was, not as up to their old battles as she used to be.
He watched as she surveyed his brother questioned him on his whereabouts and his actions, and whether what she had heard was true. In truth it probably was, and for it his brother would be disowned, a fact that Sirius would be very proud of if he was honest with himself. But he knew that Regulus most probably didn't want that, Regulus had always felt the need to belong, and hadn't found that anywhere but at home, and for all Sirius knew with Addie.Sirius had always belonged with James and Remus no doubt about that.
Regulus looked at him, clearly not knowing what to say to her at all, the truth would no doubt give her a heart attack, but wasn't that what they came to do? Sirius pondered for a moment, before deciding that he really did need to speak for his brother, although not knowing quite what to say.
"Regulus? What ever you are trying to hide, looking at the man beside you won't help."
Sirius glared at his mother, if she said one more word he was going to curse the insufferable old woman. "Well?" That was one more word, but luckily Sirius had more control over his temper now than in his teenage years.
"Well dear Brother, she really wants to know the truth."

Regulus resisted childishly glaring at Sirius. How to begin? Nothing was going to keep him in mum's favor...probably more so than Sirius was, but still, for all she'd ever told them, he'd done everything he needed to in order to get kicked out of the family. Was that really terrible, though? Who all was left on the family tree anyway? Narcissa and Bellatrix? One was in Azkaban...the other, happily married to a former Death Eater. Like Adriana was about to be, but still...Regulus was no Lucius.
"Well, mum, when I moved out I went to the edge of London," he said. "I'm living in an apartment complex with my girlfriend from Hogwarts, Adriana Bell?" he paused, waiting to see if she'd remember Adriana. The one visit she'd had in his home hadn't gone very well...mum had been sure she'd sully the silver, if not steal it. Regulus had ended up bribing Kreacher to keep quiet about some peaches and milk, in order to keep her from going hungry over the weekend.
Mum made a gutteral noise, which could have been either displeasure or indifference, Regulus wasn't sure. He debated continuing, but decided it'd be better to get this well and over with than draw it out. Like tearing off a band-aid, as his neighbors were fond of saying.
"We moved out there when I moved out of the house. I deserted the Dark Lord to keep myself out of Azkaban, because Adriana was pregnant. We've got a daughter named Katie, she's just had her third birthday last Tuesday." Regulus paused. "And I'm teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts up at Hogwarts. Mind if I take a few books from the library?"
It sounded bad even to his own ears. Watching mum unblinkingly, Regulus hoped that he wasn't about to hear one of her famous fits. He'd really had enough screaming when Sirius had gone through getting himself disowned. That was why he'd run away rather than telling them the truth. And speaking of them...where was dad anyway? Didn't need to get avadaed for upsetting mum, not right now. He hoped Sirius was watching their backs, because his eyes were glued to the woman and the wand before them.

Sirius felt the pride he felt in regard to his brother building as Regulus spoke, he finally shattering the picture their mother had built of him over the years that Regulus lied to their parents. Sirius noticed his mothers wand, resting on the arm of her chair, next to her hand, he knew all too well about her quick reactions. And felt glad his wand was in his hand already, having not put it away after apprating.
It wasn't until know that Sirius realised he hadn't seen his father at all. It was true that his father spent most of time in his study, but it wasn't that uncommon to see him about the house or sitting in the garden, reading. Sirius prepared himself even more, if his father saw him in the house uninvited he'd throw a fit, and curse him into oblivion. Knowing his father he would have heard directly from the dark lord that Regulus had betrayed them, and had not told Walberga because it would damage her so.
His ears pricked for any sound anywhere in the house, trying to pick out where his father was. This was harder than he remembered it ever being before, but maybe it was because the sounds that the house itself made had changed. Suddenly he heard the front door slam. It had always been a particular type of slam that the front door made. It was always the same pitch no matter how hard it was shut. Some doors made two sounds, the first when the lack hit the catch and the second when the wood of the door hit the door frame. This front door made one noise, and it sent shivers down Sirius spine every time he heard it. He imagined that it was the kind of sound a cell door made behind you before it was locked. It was final, absolute.
Then there were footsteps on the stairs, and he heard a brief questioning of Kreacher before they continued onto the landing, and closer and closer to the parlour. He heard the door creak slightly behind him, and did not move, knowing the slightest flinch would make his father think him weaker than he already thought him.
"My my, this is a surprise."

Mum's eyes bulged as Regulus began to speak, and he couldn't resist shifting his gaze from her face to her wand in anticipation of the tirade he expected. Walburga Black's sallow skin broke into a thin sweat and even from across the room, Regulus could see her veins beginning to bulge from her forehead and neck. Her reaction to his wife's name wasn't unexpected, but still did not bode well for the rest of the news he had to deliver. Mum's eyes darted up to the family tree, and Regulus could almost see the calculations in her head as she stared at the scorch marks of the Bells.
Walburga began to speak in almost a manic monotone, intoning frantically, "Regulus, you don't have to stay with blood traitors any longer. You can come home, son. Kreacher will freshen up your room. We will have a feast to celebrate tonight. I'll call your father and you can tell us both about the horrible things the blood traitors have forced you--"
"Sorry, mum, you have the wrong idea," Regulus interrupted. When he mentioned Katie, all the blood drained out of his mother's face and her chest stopped heaving for breath. Regulus was hopeful for a moment that he had driven her into a faint, but when he concluded his cheeky speech his mother took in a sharp breath of air.
"You will not remove a single book from this house!" Walburga stood quick as a flash and turned to the tapestry, snatching up her wand. Regulus felt his heart sink into his stomach as she spoke. He knew what was coming, and he had no desire to watch it happen. It was childish to close his eyes, but Regulus was seized suddenly with the strong impulse to either leave or hide. Besides, once mum erased him from the family, nothing was stopping her from outright attacking him and his brother. Taking a few steps towards the door of the room, Regulus prepared to turn and run. "You have betrayed your ancient name and polluted our family with that impure little trollop's--"
Regulus felt an immediate stirring of anger as mum began to insult his family. Adriana was just as pureblooded as he was, and how dare this woman insult his precious Katie without ever meeting her? He couldn't see why he had ever tried to please someone as irrational and frustratingly old fashioned as his mother. "That's enough," he snapped, cutting her off. Mum's mouth gaped open in shock at his interruption. "I'm not going to stand here and let you say these things about Katie. If you want to disown me too, then fine. You can rot in this house completely alone, and we won't even come to your funeral. We won't even have a funeral for you, because when they tell us you've kicked it, we're going to have a party." He took a deep breath and continued, "But if you would like to apologize and act like a respectable adult, then maybe one day you'll get to meet her."
That was when he heard a voice he'd been hoping to avoid during this visit. All the bravery from his speech seemed to have fled with the words, leaving him just as quickly. Locked between his mother and his father, Regulus gave Sirius a frightened look and wished that his brother would think of some brilliant way to get them both safely out of there. At the moment he would have chosen tea with the Dark Lord over an afternoon in mum's parlor without a second thought.

(OOC - Do we want her to die of heart attack???)
Sirius knew what was coming when their mother stood up and moved toards the tapestry, blast hole number three of their generation. What he wasn't expecting was how Regulus reacted, he interrupted their mother, and proceeded to tell her exactly what he thought of her instead of hiding it like he usually did. Sirius stood there agape, mouth hanging open until it snapped dhut as the door opened behind them. He saw Regulus' frightened glance, and put on his most annoyingly rougish grin, and turned to face his father.
"Father, I expect it is, isn't it, you see in a moment of clarity we decided that we were going to be the 'bigger' men and offer the olive branch," At that moment Sirius conjured such a branch with a flick of his wand and a silent incantation, and made it hover annoingly in front of his father's face. Whilst keeping an eye on his father's wand, praying to Merlin that Regulus was doing the same with their mother.
"If I believed rubbish like that I wouldn't still be standing here, would I?" He too flicked his wand, and the Olive branch burst into flame and floated to the ground, where the ashes smouldered into dust."Now what are you doing here?"
"You know that really is an interesting question, with quite a long answer, but I wasn't lying about the Olive branch bit, really, but it's too late now, apparently." his eyes flicked down to the pile of dusty ashes on the floor, and he twirled his wand casually in his fingers.

(OOC--do we want her dead or do we want to reconcile them? lol...I don't care much either way)
Regulus didn't know what he was supposed to do when Sirius flashed him a roguish grin. Did that mean that he was alone on the escape route planning, or did that mean that his brother had things under control? When their father set fire to Sirius's cheekily conjured olive branch, Regulus felt as if a bucket of icy water had just been poured over his head. Despite his age, despite his new responsibilities, despite the three years that he had been living on his own outside his parents' house, Regulus began to shiver in fear. The last time he had seen mum or dad this angry had been when Sirius left the house to live with James Potter. After that, mum had blasted Sirius' name off the tapestry and set fire to a good number of objects around the house in an inconsolable rage. And dad...well, Regulus didn't want to think actively about what dad had done. He tried to forget that day whenever he could.
"They're here to upset us, Orion," Mum screeched. "Regulus is trying to tell us that he's married that muggle-loving Bell girl and they've been living in London." Her eyes, once again, seemed to pass through Sirius as she spoke.
Regulus, at the mention of his name, took a deep breath. "We're here to say hello, dad," he explained patiently. "And possibly make amends for our differences...I thought you might like to meet my daughter eventually, and...well, with the old crowd being arrested and imprisoned, we thought you and mum might have reconsidered a few of your ideas."
Orion Black stood in the doorway and stared at his two adult sons, then glanced over at his furious and bulging wife. "Exactly what ideas would those be?" he asked sharply.
Regulus once again turned towards Sirius, the words failing in his throat. He knew that this would happen, even before he agreed to set foot in the house. Had they spent enough time evaluating how long it would be until their parents keeled over? Did Sirius have his fill of the house of Black? Regulus wanted nothing more at that moment than to be at home in his own apartment with his arms around Adriana and Katie. He should have hugged them again before he left. At this rate, he might not get the chance to ever hug them again. Regulus and Sirius were likely about to be murdered.
He made his eyes as imploring as possible. Regulus would be damned if he let his brother stand there and grin in the face of their impending deaths.

((ooc - mum is so gonna have heart attack when I've finished... lol))
Sirius looked between the people standing around him, the mother who was looking through him, looking as though she was about to explode with rage. The father who was glaring at him, calmly holding his wand, this was the calm before the storm, and Sirius knew it. The Brother, whom he had always felt the need to protect even when they had hated each other, who was shooting him frightened galnces and quaking in his shoes, terrified of the onslaught that was sure to ensue any moment.
Might as well make use of the calm before the storm, I won't be heard once it starts...
"You want the truth, Father? Regulus may have come here to make amends, I on the other hand came to tell you both that you've lost. Voldemort was destroyed by a one year old boy, and your sick reign of terror is over, No one is scared to say Voldemort's name anymore, doesn't that tell you something?"
I wasn't disowned the day you blasted me off that tepestry, I was set free, and if you blast Regulus off that tapestry because he married the woman of his dreams and has the most gorgeous daughter in the world, you will do the same for him. You should have known that pressuring him the way you did with me would produce the same results in the end, the only reson it took longer with him was because he was sheilded by me while I was still around to look after him. I want you both to know that I think you are pathetic, cowardly and I don't care what you think of me, I never did. I only hope that the fear you drummed into Regulus will let him have the same opinion of you as I do one day, and when that day comes I will be more proud that he is my brother than the day I held him for the first time and he smiled at me."
I also want you to know that if you dont let us walk out of here alive you will get mobbed by hundreds of very obsessive fan girls who so desperatly want top watch my next quidditch match. Would you like tickets by the way? I get two free for every game. Although I guess not because that would just prove the point that I didn't need to be on your stupid family tree to make a life for myself, and that you are without a doubt the worst parents in the universe."
Sirius said all this very calmly, he, like his father was a calm before the storm kind of person, and when he blew it things got broken. He waited for their reactions ready for the best outcome, and the worst, he was no longer twiddling his wand casually in his fingers, he had stop the casual facade when he finished talking about the late Tom Riddle.

Regulus was fairly certain that he could feel his stomach sinking through his feet and down beneath the floorboards. As Sirius spoke, the only thing that he could anticipate was the massive, huge amount of trouble that they were both going to be in. It was like the brothers were toddlers again, and Sirius had convinced Regulus to splash his pumpkin juice onto the family tapestry. He hated these sorts of arguments. When the four Blacks had been sharing the same house, they happened on nearly a daily basis. Mum would screech and inflate like a sweaty red puffer-fish, dad would work himself into a fit of cursing and hexing, and Sirius would end up screaming at both of them and stomping around making as much noise as he could. In these instances, Regulus tried to imagine that he was far away, reading a book in the empty dungeons of Hogwarts, flying a broom, living with a normal family that never fought and always did everything together, et cetera.
As these thoughts proliferated his mind, he suddenly had an impatient realization: he was an adult, with a fiance and a child, and a place of his own. There was absolutely no reason for him to stand in the parlor and listen to the disaster that was about to unfold. Yes, he had come hoping to make some sort of reconciliation with his parents, thinking that perhaps his nuclear family would finally manage to come together like he felt a family should. But it was obvious now that his vague wishes for the visit were not going to come to fruition.
While Sirius was busy pouring out everything he had ever wanted to say to their parents for the last couple of years--perhaps all of his life--Regulus decided that he was going to leave. Not in a fit like he was throwing a tantrum, not to defy his parents or his brother or any sort of rule, but simply because he no longer had any desire to be connected with the people he had once called parents. He had given them a chance to be a part of his life, and in his eyes, they declined. Regulus had no patience for people who were just going to get in his way--he'd already dealt with enough holding him back in his life.
It was time to make the right decision, to choose his own path and stick to it. This was a waste of time, and so he looked at his parents and announced, "This was a waste of time. I'm quite done here. If you're going to be this way, then fine. Have nice lives. Goodbye, mum and dad."
Regulus began to move even further towards the door, expecting to hear a continued argument or an argumentative response from either of his parents. Instead, he heard an extremely strange sort of gurgle, and he couldn't resist glancing back to see what had caused it before he left.
He was rather surprised to see Walburga clutching her left shoulder with her mouth open and her eyes popping. Regulus thought that she might have been trying to say something, but she gurgled again. Orion Black was as silent and surprised as Regulus, a quick glance confirmed. Not certain of what was happening, he looked at his brother and wondered if he should leave or ask if mum was alright.
